Park Service surprised by Arch plan

A veteran official with the National Park Service in St. Louis said Thursday that his agency was taken aback by the proposal from Mayor Francis Slay and former Sen. John Danforth to obtain part of the Gateway Arch grounds for a project to revamp the city’s waterfront.

Tourists are surprised by what’s not at Arch

Dorene Dunbar would not typically eat fudge for lunch, but on Wednesday she had few options.

The Gateway Arch does not serve lunch, though a gift shop offers nuts, cookies and cheese curds. Dunbar’s husband, Michael, opted for a hunk of cheese and a stick of sausage.
